R-01The role

We only take on AI work when there is a target we can measure and a real path to production. You will build the test suite before you build the feature, and sometimes you will be the person who says a project should not go ahead.

What you will own

  • Design how the system finds and uses information, then benchmark it honestly
  • Build automated quality tests that block a bad release
  • Treat cost per request as a real engineering constraint, and own it
  • Add request tracing, safety limits and human review steps

What we need from you

  • 4+ years building machine learning or AI systems that real people used
  • Strong Python, and comfort running models in production
  • Healthy doubt about benchmark numbers, including your own
  • Experience turning a prototype into something an on-call team can support

Useful, not required

  • Experience with vLLM, Ray or similar serving tools
  • Tuning vector search at scale
  • Published test suites or open-source contributions

AI Engineer

No cover letter and no CV upload needed. Just answer three questions about work you have really done. Details matter more than polish here.

GitHub, portfolio, writing — anything that shows how you think.

What you chose, why it seemed right at the time, and what it cost.

Include the number that proves it. If there was no number, say so.

Especially if you lost the argument.
